Virginia Beach Roofing Contractor · Serving Virginia Beach Since 2004

Whatever's Going On With Your Roof,
You Deserve a Straight Answer

Maybe it’s a leak you can’t quite place. Maybe a storm just came through. Maybe you’re just tired of looking at siding that’s seen better decades. Whatever brought you here, you shouldn’t have to diagnose it yourself. You need a Virginia Beach roofing contractor who will actually look at what’s happening, explain it in plain language, and tell you what it will really take to fix it. That’s what Reitzel Roofing & Exteriors has been doing for Hampton Roads homeowners since 2004.

A Quick Word Before You Wait on This

Small Problems Don't Stay Small

That small leak in the corner of your ceiling doesn’t stay small. Neither does a soft spot on the roof deck, or a few shingles that lifted after the last windstorm. None of it announces itself loudly, at first. Usually it just shows up later as water damage, mold, or a repair bill that’s grown well past what the original fix would have cost.

We’re not going to tell you your roof is about to fail. Most of the time, it isn’t. But small, unaddressed problems on a Hampton Roads home, where humidity, salt air, and hurricane season are working against you year-round, tend to get more expensive the longer they sit. A repair that costs a few hundred dollars today can turn into thousands once it’s reached the decking, the insulation, or the inside of your home.

The honest move is usually the simple one: get it looked at while it’s still a small problem. An inspection costs you very little. Ignoring the wrong thing for a year or two rarely does.

Where do you start?

Why Your Estimate Might Not Be the Lowest One

If you’ve collected a few roofing estimates already, you’ve probably noticed they don’t look much alike: different prices, different scopes, sometimes a difference of thousands of dollars for what sounds like the same job on paper. That’s confusing, and it’s fair to wonder what you’re actually paying for.

Here’s the honest answer: the lowest estimate isn’t automatically the wrong choice, and the highest isn’t automatically the right one. What matters is what’s actually included: the materials, the process, and what happens to your property while the work is being done. Here’s what that looks like when Reitzel does it:

Your property gets protected first. Landscaping, siding, and windows are covered before anything comes off the roof.

The jobsite is prepped properly. Tarps and ground protection go down before work starts, not as cleanup afterward.

Debris gets removed and nails get swept every day, not just when the job wraps.

Underlayment, flashing, and ventilation get installed to manufacturer spec, because that’s what your warranty actually depends on, even though it’s invisible once the job is done.

You’ll get a straight answer, not a sales pitch. If a repair is genuinely the right call instead of a full replacement, that’s what we’ll tell you.

We’re not saying every contractor who quotes less than us is cutting corners. Sometimes a lower bid is a perfectly good, honest number. What we want is for you to know what to actually compare estimates on, so you can make that call for yourself instead of guessing.

Where we work

Do We Work In Your Area?

If you’re wondering whether Reitzel actually works where you live, the short answer is: probably.

Virginia Beach is home base, and it’s also where the bulk of our work happens. We regularly work throughout the Southside (Norfolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, and Suffolk) because we’ve spent enough years in these neighborhoods to know how the local weather, building styles, and permitting actually work. We also take on projects in Hampton and Newport News on a more limited basis, given the extra drive across the water.

More Than a Roofing Company

Giving Back to the Community We Call Home

A lot of contractor websites say some version of “we’d love to give back to our community.” We’d rather just show you what that’s actually looked like.

From Homeowners

Your Local Hampton Roads Exterior Contractor

You’re not just hiring a roof. You’re hiring the people who show up at your house.

Who's Actually Behind This Company

Reitzel Roofing & Exteriors has been working on Hampton Roads homes since 2004. Marc started the company after seeing too many homeowners get rushed estimates and vague explanations from contractors more interested in closing the sale than explaining what was actually needed. The idea from day one was simple: inspect thoroughly, explain clearly, and do the work the way it’s actually supposed to be done, even when that’s not the fastest or cheapest path.

Two decades later, the company is still local, still Virginia Beach-based, and still run on that same idea.

Not Sure Where to Start? That's Okay.

You don’t need to already know whether you need a repair, a replacement, or something else entirely. Tell us what you’re seeing (a leak, a soft spot, siding that looks off) and we’ll help you figure out the next step.
